Op ACVA’s Mission:
The successful implementation of the “Invisible No More. Experiences of Canadian Women Veterans” ACVA report recommendations, as defined by lived experience voices.
“ACVA” (Anciens Combattants Veterans Affairs) being defined as the “Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs”
The Work Plan:
Aug-Sep 2024:
Help set up the soon to be named “Women Veteran Council” for success.
- Start to gather lived experience member’s voices (this website and mailing list)
- Provide wiki links to help the community define what “successful implementation” would look like to them for each of the 42 recommendations (members only site)
- Offer members polls to help identify to government what recommendations lived experience wants them to focus on first
- Offer members the options to self-identify all the intersectionalities of importance to them to help ensure diversity, equity, inclusion of voices in the polls.
- Ideally, once the Women Veteran Council is up and running – pass this information to them for further guidance.
- Potentially continue to use this website as a monitoring tool to provide a “report card” at the end of each parliament session to express where the lived experience community feels government is at for “successfully implementing” the recommendations. (Next parliamentary session held Sep 16 – Dec 13, 2004)
